    Description

I'm offering an almost uncirculated example of a
    United States Military
    Payment
Certificate (MPC) Series 481 Ten Cents (10
    ¢
    ) Denomination
    (Pick# M23 & Friedberg# M832).
Military Payment Certificates (MPC) were used to pay US military personnel stationed in foreign countries. They were created in order to reduce currency arbitrage. These MPCs could be redeemed for US dollars when a soldier left an MPC zone. If a soldier went on leave then the MPCs could be converted into local currency.
The MPC series 481 notes were issued from June 20, 1951 to May 25, 1954. They were issued to US military personnel in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Morocco, Philippines, Ryukyus, Scotland, Trieste, and Yugoslavia.
The MPC shown in the photos is the exact one you will receive. This is a crisp, nearly uncirculated, note with one gentle fold mark and no stains, tears or pinholes. Personally I would grade the condition of this note as Almost Uncirculated (AU).  Since I am not an expert in grading paper money, please examine the photos carefully and make your own judgement on the condition.
I obtained this note from my father-in-law, a Korean War soldier stationed in Germany, and it has been stored in my Covid, smoke, animal and kid-free home ever since.
