DCC Corporation Hot Spot II TC welder
This is a thermocouple welder. I tested it and it still works fine. I welded a 20 awg type K thermocouple. See photo of the weld.
I currently have a nail holding the plier handle in the holder at the end of the cable. I just give it a tap if it gets loose. You can replace it with a screw or shim of some kind.
I don't have the original carbon block, but I found some other block several years ago. I'm not sure what the block is made out of. It's not metal but it's very low resistance and it works well. You can drill a hole in it an tap it if you want to permanently attached the cable to it. I just use a C-clamp as you see in the photo.
